The Barbados Down Syndrome Association (BDSA) was founded in 2013 by a group of parents who came together to support one another while raising children with Down syndrome.
What started as a small, passionate community of parents with children aged 3 to 18 has grown steadily over the years, welcoming families with individuals of all ages. In 2019, the group was officially registered as a charity and adopted its current name, The Barbados Down Syndrome Association (registered charity #1354).
Since then, the BDSA has been dedicated to advocating for the rights of individuals with Down syndrome in Barbados, providing vital support to families, raising awareness, and offering programs that improve the lives of individuals with Down syndrome across the island.
