Barbados Down Syndrome Association

Our Mission

The Barbados Down Syndrome Association (BDSA) is dedicated to promoting the rights, inclusion, and well-being of individuals with Down syndrome in Barbados. We aim to raise awareness, provide resources, and create opportunities for personal growth and community integration. Through advocacy, education, and support, we empower individuals with Down syndrome and their families to live fulfilling lives and thrive.

What is Down Syndrome?

Down syndrome is a genetic condition that occurs when an individual has a full or partial extra copy of chromosome 21.

Rock your socks

Launched in 2019, our Rock Your Socks campaign has become Barbados’ largest awareness-raising initiative for Down syndrome. This campaign not only raises awareness but also serves as the association’s primary fundraising event.
