Advocacy
At the BDSA, we believe that every individual with Down syndrome deserves to live a fulfilling life, filled with joy, independence, and inclusion. We recognize that advocacy plays a crucial role in creating a society where these rights are upheld.
Our members are actively engaged in advocacy efforts, utilizing various channels to raise awareness and effect positive change.
This includes:
Media Outreach: Engaging with local media outlets through press releases, interviews, and public appearances to share the stories and experiences of individuals with Down syndrome.
Community Engagement: Participating in community events, workshops, and public awareness campaigns to educate the public about Down syndrome and dispel common misconceptions.
Policy Advocacy: Working with policymakers and government officials to advocate for legislation and policies that support the rights and inclusion of individuals with Down syndrome in areas such as education, healthcare, and employment.
Building Alliances: Collaborating with other organizations, community groups, and individuals to strengthen the advocacy movement and amplify our collective voice.
By empowering our members to become active advocates, we strive to create a more inclusive and equitable society where every individual with Down syndrome can reach their full potential.
