What we do

The BDSA is actively involved in a range of initiatives designed to enhance the lives of our members and promote inclusivity within the Barbadian community. These initiatives include:

  • Advocacy: The BDSA actively advocates for the rights and inclusion of individuals with Down syndrome at all levels, including government, education, and healthcare.

  • Support Programs: We offer a variety of support programs for families, including parent support groups, social events, and educational workshops.

  • Early Intervention: We emphasize the importance of early intervention services, such as speech therapy, occupational therapy, and physiotherapy, to help individuals with Down syndrome reach their full potential.

  • Community Awareness: The BDSA actively raises awareness about Down syndrome within the Barbadian community through public education campaigns, workshops, and community events.

  • Collaboration: We collaborate with other organizations, government agencies, and healthcare providers to ensure that individuals with Down syndrome have access to the support and services they need.
