New parents

Receiving a Down Syndrome diagnosis, whether it’s prenatally or after your baby is born, can be overwhelming. As you adjust to life with your beautiful baby, keep in mind that you are not alone. We at The Barbados Down Syndrome Association are here to welcome you and your baby whenever you feel ready. Our organization consists of a diverse group of parents at various stages of their journey with their child with Down Syndrome. We are here to offer support and share the joys and challenges of raising a child with an extra chromosome.

We offer a range of support services including:

  • Parent Support Groups– connect with other parents via our active WhatsApp chat and share experience and challenges in a friendly and supportive environment.

  • Parent Education Workshops- Gain knowledge about a wide range of topics including early intervention, education and best practices for supporting your child’s development.

  • Educational Programmes- We offer programmes for our children and adults with Down Syndrome aimed at their holistic development.

  • Social Events- Get to know our local Down Syndrome community at family fun days and events where parents and children socialize and form connections and friendships.

  • Advocacy Opportunities- Join us in advocating for the rights and inclusion of individuals with Down Syndrome within our local Down Syndrome community.
