Physical characteristics of DS

While many of the physical characteristics of Down syndrome can also be found in the general population, the following are commonly seen in individuals with the condition:

  • Low muscle tone.
  • Flat facial profile.
  • Upward slanting eyes.
  • Single deep crease across the palm.
  • Hyper flexibility.
  • Small skin folds on the inner corner of the eyes.
  • Wider space between the big toe and second toe.
